Saturday October 28

10:30 AM  –  12:00 PM

On October 28th, Zilker Botanical Garden will host its own Roots & Wings Festival Celebration!
This annual event is part of city-wide festival from October 18th - November 5th - celebrating trees, pollinators, and all creatures. There will be workshops and crafts around the Garden throughout the day including a special Day of the Dead workshop in partnership with the Mexican American Cultural Center in Austin.

Join us for Day of the Dead: Traditional Garden Altars with Marigolds. In this heartfelt class, we will connect deeply with our ancestors as we join together to create a traditional garden altar with the golden energy of Marigolds and folklore history of our Mexican Ancestors.

About the Instructor: Jesus Garcia is a community educator, Mexican shaman & herbalist teaching the traditions of lineage work through botanical practices with holistic enrichment garden programs. Jesus is a national PreK teacher and founder of TheHerbalActionProject.

All participants will need to complete the "Youth & Adult Participation Registration/Waiver" and submit it in-person on the day of the workshop. Waivers will also be available on-site.

This class is free, but registration is required to attend.
