Photographer Guidelines / Know Before You Go

  • We do not provide photographers or photography services at the garden.
  • There are no changing rooms available.
  • Please avoid posing subjects in garden beds. Even if they appear empty, perennial plant shoots are growing just below the surface, and stepping on them could damage or destroy the plants.
  • Please do not pose subjects in trees or on high rocks/rock walls.
  • If you are setting up a subject on the pathways, be sure to leave enough space for other visitors to pass by.
  • Garden Terrain: The garden is situated on a hill with varying slopes. We recommend that subjects wear comfortable shoes for walking, and carry any heeled shoes between shots to avoid tripping and ensure ease of movement.
  • Prohibited Items: Balloons, confetti of any kind, candles/fire, banners, and other similar items are not permitted.

Filming

  • If you plan to film or record video at Zilker Botanical Garden, a City of Austin permit is required. Visit this page to find out if your project needs a permit.
